Your wellbeing is so important, both during pregnancy and after birth, especially in times of pandemics and uncertainty.  Becoming a mother is hard enough without the added stress that modern times bring.  If you are in need of a place to meet other mums whom understand what you are going through, or simply need to get some fresh air and have an easy natter, then FitMama Support Walks are a safe space for you to clear you head and get some gentle exercise.

Did you know that walking is highly underrated as a brilliant form of gaining fitness and healing your post birth body.  A brisk 20 minute walk daily will help you to:

  • Improve your cardiovascular health

  • Burn excess body fat more efficiently and safer than running

  • Reduce blood pressure

  • Control diabetes

  • Strengthen bones and muscles

  • Improve mood

  • Increase brain health and immunity

In order to really reap the benefits of your brisk walks it’s advisable to follow some basic guidelines. For example:

  1. Always keep your head up and your eyes forward

  2. Keep your neck and shoulders relaxed and lift your chest

  3. Roll the foot from heel to toe

  4. Swing your arms naturally

  5. Walk using the gluteals (bottom muscles) to activate great technique

These sessions are organised by volunteers who have participated in FitMama courses with their own maternal journey.

Please wear safe and comfortable shoes for walking, wear suitable clothes for the weather.  Walks are not fitness sessions, and are operated as informal meet ups for your wellbeing.  Please participate at your own risk and make sure your health practitioner is happy for you to do so.
